The present petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India has been filed to quash the First Information Report No.460 of 2023, registered at police station Rudrapur, District Udham Singh Nagar under Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 and Section 3/4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961. 2025:UHC:770 2
2. A joint Compounding Application (IA No. 1 of 2025) with affidavits have been filed by the petitioners and the respondent nos. 3 and 4. 3. Heard Mr. Parth Narang, learned counsel for the petitioners, Mr. G.S. Sandhu, learned Addl. Advocate General for the respondent nos. 1 & 2 and Mr. Shubham Chhabra, learned counsel for the respondent nos. 3 & 4. 4. All the petitioners are present in-person. They are identified by Mr. Parth Narang, Advocate. 5. The respondent no.3 and the respondent no.4 are present. They are identified by Mr. Shubham Chhabra, Advocate. 6. The petitioners, the respondent no.3 and the respondent no.4 submitted that there were matrimonial disputes and they have resolved their disputes and after resolving their disputes, they have filed a Compounding Application (IA No. 1 of 2025) with affidavits. The respondent nos. 3 & 4 further submitted that they have filed their affidavits with their free will and without any pressure. 7. Mr. G.S. Sandhu, Advocate, submitted that there were matrimonial disputes between the parties
2025:UHC:770 3 and they have resolved their disputes, therefore, the State has no objection to quash the First Information Report. 8. The petitioners and the private respondents have resolved their disputes. In these circumstances, it would be appropriate, in the interest of justice, that the impugned First Information Report No.460 of 2023, registered at police station Rudrapur, District Udham Singh Nagar, be quashed. 9. Accordingly, the impugned First Information Report No. 460 of 2023, registered at police station Rudrapur, District Udham Singh, is hereby quashed. 10.
