ORDER This Writ Petition has been filed for a Mandamus seeking for a direction to the 2nd respondent to restore the patta, chitta and adangal in favour of the petitioner for the property morefully described in the prayer to this writ petition, based on the petiitoner’s application, dated 16.11.2025, within a time frame to be fixed by this Court. 2. The petitioner claims that similarly placed persons whose pattas were cancelled had approached this Court by filing writ petitions, challenging the cancellation of the assignment. The writ petitions were allowed and upheld by the Division Bench as well as by the Hon’ble Supreme Court. Since the lands of the petitioner are also located in the same area and the petitioner having purchased the property from assignees, the petitioner claims that the patta, chitta and adangal has to be restored in his favour. The petitioner has given a representation on 16.11.2025 to the respondents for the said purpose. Since the same has Page No.2 of 6 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis
W.P.No.48279 of 2025 not been considered by the respondents till date, the petitioner has filed this writ petition. 3. Mr.D.Ravichander, learned Special Government Pleader, accepts notice on behalf of the respondents. 4. No prejudice would be caused to the respondents, if the petitioner’s representation dated 16.11.2025 is considered on merits and in accordance with law, after giving due consideration to the documents filed by the petitioner along with the said representation and after hearing the objections, if any, from the neighbouring land owners as well as any third party as they deem fit. 5. For the foregoing reasons, this Court directs the 1st respondent to pass final orders, on merits and in accordance with, on the petitioner’s representation, dated 16.11.2025, seeking restoration of patta, chitta and adangal in favour fo the petitioner for the property morefully described in the prayer to this writ petition, after giving due consideration to the documents produced by the petitioner, and after hearing the objections, if Page No.3 of 6 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis
W.P.No.48279 of 2025 any, from the neighbouring land owners and any other third party, whom they deem fit to enquire, within a period of twelve (12) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 6. With the aforesaid directions, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
