DATTA PURKAYASTHA =O=R=D=E=R= 20/11/2025 Heard Learned G.A., perused the affidavit and documents produced. 2. The documents filed by the State indicate that the patient in question was suffering from serious mental illness at the time of her admission to the Agartala Government Medical College and GBP Hospital on 13.09.2025, as can be seen from the Psychiatric examination report of the said patient. The record also reveals that she was recommended for admission in Modern Psychiatric Hospital, Narsingarh pursuant to the order of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, West Tripura. Page 2 of 2 3. The incident in question occurred on 16.09.2025 wherein the patient appears to have been dragged on the floor by two Sulabh staffs who according to the affidavits filed on behalf of the respondents have since been removed as they were outsource staffs engaged under the outsourcing agency, Sulabh Sanitation Research Foundation. The said outsourcing agency has also expressed regret and informed on 24.09.2025 that they have terminated the services of the individual staff who were responsible for the incident. The duty doctor has stated that she was not aware of the incident at the time when it happened because she was attending to about 82 patients on that day who were there in the ward. 4. Having regard to these facts and circumstances, we deem it appropriate to close this suo moto appeal with a direction to the respondents to ensure that such treatment of patients does not recur in any of the hospital under their management, and that the doctors and the staff are sufficiently sensitized as to the need for humane care of patients who come to the said hospitals for treatment.
