For Petitioners : Mr.S.Senthilnathan For Respondents : Mr.P.Sathish(For R1 to R6) Additional Government Pleader ORDER The petitioners seek a mandamus to respondents 1 to 5 to consider their representation dated 20.12.2024 to the respondents to issue free house site patta to the petitioners. 2.The petitioners would submit that they belong to the Arunthathiyar community which is a scheduled community and further they are working as agricultural coolies. With their meagre income they had constructed a small house in 3 cents of land belonging to the Government and they had been staying in the said premises since 2002. Originally, it was a hut which has been now converted into a tin roofed thatched house. The petitioners had made a representation to the sixth respondent in the month of February 2024 for issuing free house site 3/7 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis W.P.No.2952 of 2025 pattta in respect of the property in which they are now in occupation that is 3 cents in S.No.349/6, Thammampatti Village, Gengavalli Taluk, Salem. However, the same has not been considered to-date. Therefore, the petitioners are before this Court. 3.Heard the learned counsels on either sides and perused the records. The learned Additional Government Pleader takes notice on behalf of the respondents 1 to 6. 4.Petitioners who are in occupation of 3 cents of Government land for the past twenty-two years, seeks free house site patta to which they are entitled under the various schemes of the Government. Their representations had met with silence. Therefore, taking note of the fact that the statutory authorities have not discharged their duty, this Court allows the Writ Petition and issues a mandamus to the sixth respondent to consider the petitioner's request and thier eligibility for the free house site patta and pass orders within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order. 4/7 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis W.P.No.2952 of 2025 5.With the above directions, this Writ Petition is allowed.
