Mr. Ayush Tyagi, learned counsel for the petitioners. 2. Mr. Siddharth Bisht, learned A.G.A. with Mr. Pradeep Lohani and Mr. Rakesh Negi, learned Brief Holder for the State. 3. This petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India by the petitioners for protection from respondent nos.3 to 8, who are said to be the family members of petitioner no.1- Smt. Payal. Petitioners are present before this Court, and on interaction, they have admitted the fact that the marriage was solemnized between them on 01.02.2025 at Shiv Mandir, Tehsil Roorkee, District Haridwar. 4. From the perusal of the records, it transpires that petitioner no.1- Smt. Payal is major, and her date of birth entered into Class IX mark-sheet is 01.01.2007. Similarly, petitioner no.2- Mr. Vijay is also major, and his date of birth entered into high school mark-sheet is 15.05.2002. 5. It is submitted by petitioner no.2- Mr. Vijay that he works in KENT R.O. factory, and received salary of Rs.22,000/- per month, and both the parties have entered into matrimonial alliance out of their own sweet will, and due to their caste difference, respondent nos.3 to 8 are annoyed with their marriage, and extending threat to them. 6. Having considered the submissions made by learned counsels for the parties, this Court is of the view that in view of the law laid down by the Hon’ble Apex Court in the case of Lata Singh Vs. State of U.P. & another, (2006) 5 SCC 475, the petitioners are entitled for protection from this Court. 7. I, accordingly, dispose of this writ petition with a direction to the S.H.O., Police Station Piran Kaliyar, District Haridwar to provide adequate protection to the petitioners for eight weeks to ensure that no harm is caused to them by private respondents. Upon expire of eight weeks’, the S.H.O. concerned shall make fresh assessment of threat perception to the petitioners and take such measures as are felt necessary for the safety of petitioners. 8. Mr. Ayush Tyagi, learned counsel for the petitioners undertakes to give undertaking for submitting the translated copies of the required documents in the Registry today itself, and this order shall become operative only after compliance of the undertaking given by learned counsel for the petitioners. 9. Registry is directed to furnish a copy of this order to learned counsel for the parties, today itself, as per Rules. 10. Pending application, if any, also stands disposed of. (Pankaj Purohit, J.)
