Syed Murtaza Ahmed, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr. Samarjit H., learned Government Advocate assisted by Mr. L. Somorendro Roy, learned junior Government counsel for the State respondents. By the present writ petition, the petitioner approached this Court for directing the respondents to correct the land record under Section 41 of the MLR & LR Act, 1960, to reflect the petitioner’s holding of 0.05145 hectare of land covered by Patta No. 123 (Old)/71/848 (New), C.S. Dag No. 166/986, Village N. 92 – Iroishemba, Imphal West District, Manipur in line with Sale Deed No. 2523 of 1976 dated 22-10-1976. It is submitted that there is inconsistency in the details of the land record and sale deed and by filing an application dated 07-04-2025 to the Deputy Commissioner, Imphal West (Central), Government of Manipur, the petitioner prayed for making necessary changes. It is stated that in response to the said application, the Branch Officer (Revenue) of the DC’s office issued a letter dated 10-04-2025 WP(C) No. 542 of 2025 to the Sub-Divisional Officer, Lamphel to enquire into the matter and take up necessary action. However, no action has been taken up by the respondents till date. It is submitted that the writ petition may be disposed of by directing the respondents, specially, Deputy Commissioner, Imphal West for making necessary correction. Mr. Samarjit H., learned Government Advocate for the State respondents, submits that this Court may pass an appropriate order in the peculiar facts of the present case. Considering the submissions made at the Bar and the material on record, the writ petition is disposed of by directing the Deputy Commissioner, Imphal West to pass an appropriate order in the pending application filed by the petitioner within a period of two months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. With this observation, the writ petition is disposed of. It is made clear that this Court does not express any opinion on the merit of the case.
