By means of this writ petition, petitioners have sought the following relief:- (i) Issue a writ or order or direction in the nature of certiorari quashing the impugned FIR dated 2.12.2020 registered as FIR/Case Crime No. 0373 of 2020 U/s 120- B, 420, 467, 468 & 471 of I.P.C. at Police Station Ranipur, District Haridwar lodged by the Respondent no. 3 as against the petitioner. (ii) Issue a writ or order or direction in the nature of mandamus directing the respondent no. 2 to not to arrest the petitioner in pursuance of the impugned FIR dated 2.12.2020 registered as FIR/Case Crime No. 0373 of 2020 U/s 120- B, 420, 467, 468 & 471 of I.P.C. at Police Station Ranipur, District Haridwar lodged by the Respondent no. 3. 4. Learned State Counsel, on instructions, submits that since evidence collected during investigation was not found sufficient to proceed against petitioner, therefore, his name was dropped from the charge-sheet; however, charge-sheet has been filed against other co-accused persons. Thus, 2025:UHC:139 he submits that the writ petition has become infructuous. 5. Since evidence collected was not found sufficient for filing charge sheet against the petitioner, therefore, no useful purpose would be served by keeping this writ petition pending. 6. Accordingly, the writ petition is dismissed, as infructuous.
