Against dismissal of his Writ Petition (S/S) No.626 of 2017, writ petitioner has filed this appeal. 4. By the impugned judgment, the writ petition was dismissed by holding that the appellant was serving under a self-financed programme and he was not working against a sanctioned vacant post in the University, and his prayer for regularization of services was rejected. 5. Learned counsel for the appellant submits that appellant unfortunately passed away on 07.08.2022 while serving as Programme Fellow in the University. 6. Learned counsel for the appellant further submits that there is a policy in G.B. Pant University to give compassionate appointment to a dependent of deceased employee. He therefore submits that the competent authority in the University may be directed to consider claim of one dependent member of the family for compassionate appointment. 7. We, accordingly, dispose of this special appeal granting liberty to legal representative of late Sageer Ahmad to apply 2025:UHC:4995-DB for compassionate appointment. If such application is made within three weeks from today, the competent authority in G.B. Pant University shall consider the same and take decision, as per law within eight weeks from the date of receiving such application. (Subhash Upadhyay,J.)
