IN THE HIGH COURT OF PUNJAB & HARYANA AT CHANDIGARH 396 CRWP-755-2023 Date of decision: May 21, 2025 SATISH KUMAR ...Petitioner Versus STATE OF PUNJAB AND OTHERS ...Respondents CORAM: HON'BLE MRS. JUSTICE MANJARI NEHRU KAUL Present: Mr. Nandan Jindal, Advocate with Mr. Aniket Singla, Advocate for the petitioner. Mr. Amit Rana, Sr. DAG, Punjab. MANJARI NEHRU KAUL, J.(ORAL) 1. The instant petition has been filed seeking quashing of the impugned order dated 29.08.2022 (Annexure P-4) passed by respondent No.1, whereby premature case of the petitioner was dismissed solely on the ground that his sentence was not complete including the remission. 2. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that even though earlier case of the official respondents was that the petitioner was not eligible for the grant of premature release, however, during the pendency of the instant petition, he had now become eligible for being considered for premature release. He submits that he would be satisfied if appropriate directions are issued to the official respondents to take a relook into the case of the petitioner and decide it expeditiously, as per the 1991 Policy. 3. I have heard learned counsel for the petitioner and perused the relevant material placed on record. 4. In view of the limited prayer made by learned counsel for the petitioner, the instant petition stands disposed of with direction to the official respondents to decide the case for premature release of the petitioner at the earliest, preferably within the next 4 weeks as per the Policy of 1991.
