Petitioner is a witness in a criminal trial arising out of Case Crime No.15 of 2021, under Sections 120-B, 302, 307, 34 I.P.C., at Police Station - Vibhuti Khand, District - Lucknow. He seeks protection under the witness protection scheme 2018 as approved by the Hon'ble Supreme Court in the case of Mahender Chawla and others Vs. Union of India and others, 2019 (14) SCC 615. Let the Committee headed by the District Judge consider the case of the petitioner at the earliest keeping in mind the order of the trial court dated 17.07.2025. In the meantime, till decision is taken by the Committee aforesaid the Commissioner of Police, Lucknow and Superintendent of Police, District Ghazipur shall provide security and ensure safety of the petitioner, witness Abhishek Singh alias Mantu. In addition to it, if the petitioner visits at District Mau, then the Superintendent of Police, Mau shall also ensure safety of the petitioner and provide security, as an interim measure, till such a decision is taken by the District Level Committee. Shri Nishant Shukla shall communicate our order to the Commissioner of Police, Lucknow, Superintendent of Police, Ghazipur and Superintendent of Police, Mau for immediate compliance. Let a copy of this order be provided to the learned counsel for the petitioner today itself on payment of usual charges. Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of. (Saurabh Lavania,J.)
