Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner Mr. M.C. Pant and the learned counsel for the respondents Mr. Ashish Joshi. 2)
The petitioner has sought for the following reliefs : 1

“I. Issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of mandamus directing the respondents to take all effective steps for convening a DPC for the post of General Manager (Technical) against the vacant post and also to consider the case of the petitioner for the promotion on the said post within a stipulated timeframe as prescribed by this Hon’ble Court or to mould the relief appropriately by safeguarding the interest of the petitioner keeping in view the fact highlighted in the body of the petition. II. Pass any other or further writ, order or direction which this Hon’ble Court may deed fit and proper in the facts and circumstances of the case to secure the ends of justice. III. To issue damages and compensation to the petitioner in tune which the Hon’ble Court deems fit and proper in the circumstances of the case.
IV. To issue costs of the petition.” 3)
In essence, the petitioner is seeking for a direction to direct the respondents / employer to consider the case of the petitioner for promotion. 4)
It is the case of the petitioner that he is entitled to be considered for promotion in a time bound manner. 2
2025:UHC:9906-DB Be that as it may, we are of the considered opinion that it will be equitable to direct the respondents to consider the instant petition as a representation and dispose of the same in a time bound manner. 5)
In that view of the matter, the writ petition is
disposed of by directing the respondents to consider the instant writ petition as representation and dispose of the same within eight weeks. 6)
The writ petition stands disposed of accordingly. 7)
There shall be no order as to costs. 8)
Pending application, if any, also stands disposed of.
