Petitioner has challenged demand of Rs. 30,940/- raised by Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Pithoragarh in respect of Goods Carrier Vehicle No. UK05-CA- 2929. According to the petitioner, the vehicle in question met with an accident, in which it was completely damaged and intimation regarding the damage caused to the vehicle was given to the Police Authorities and Assistant Regional Transport Officer concerned. He submits that the registration of the concerned vehicle was also surrendered to the concerned authorities in the year 2021, therefore, there is no occasion for the Transport Authorities to raise the demand, as has been done in the present case. 4. Learned State Counsel, however, submits that petitioner has remedy of 2025:UHC:9930 Appeal under Section 18 of Uttarakhand Motor Vehicles Taxation Reforms Act, 2003. 5. Learned counsel for the petitioner do not dispute the contention raised by learned State Counsel. 6. In view of the availability of statutory remedy to the petitioner, the writ petition is disposed of with liberty to petitioner to file Appeal before the competent authority. If he files Appeal within one week from today, the same shall be heard and decided on merits, as early as possible. For a period of ten days, no coercive action shall be taken against the petitioner pursuant to the impugned order.
