(2) Petitioner participated in a selection for the post of Constable (GD) in Central Armed Police Forces, held in the year 2025. His height was, however, found to be slightly below the standard fixed for candidates belonging to Kumaon and Garhwal Hills. As per the advertisement, male candidates should have height of minimum 170 cm, which is relaxable to 165 cm for male candidates belonging to Kumaon, Garhwal, Dogra etc. Admittedly, petitioner belongs to Kumaon region of the State of Uttarakhand. Petitioner contends that earlier in the year 2022 also, he had participated in the selection for appointment as Constable (GD) in Central Armed Police Forces and at that time, his height was found to be 165.5 cm. Thus it is contended that there is some discrepancy in measurement of petitioner’s height in the selection held in 2025. (3) This Court finds substance in the submission of learned Counsel for the petitioner. Height of the same person cannot be different in two different selection years. If petitioner’s height was found to be 165.5 cm in the earlier selection held in 2022, then he cannot be declared as not meeting the requirement, as to height, in the selection held in 2025. 2025:UHC:10639 (4) Writ petition is, accordingly, disposed of with the following directions: (i) Respondent no. 4 shall constitute a Medical Examination Board for examining height of the petitioner within two weeks from the date of presentation of certified copy of this order before him. (ii) Medical Examination Board shall examine petitioner and submit report to the competent authority within three days of such measurement. (iii) The competent authority shall act on the said report and take necessary action within one week thereafter. If height of the petitioner is found to be well within the required standard, then appointment letter shall be issued to him, subject to fulfilment of other conditions.
