WP(C) 185/2025 CM (357/2025) Saniya Zehra and Anr …Appellant/Petitioner(s) Through: None. Vs. Union Territory of Ladakh and Ors. …Respondent (s) Through: Ms. Rehana Qayoom, Advocate vice Mr. T.M. Shamsi, DSGI.
CORAM:
HON’BLE MR. JUSTICE SANJEEV KUMAR, JUDGE
ORDER 26.12.2025
1. This is a petition by a couple seeking a direction to the official respondents 1 and 2 to provide protection to their life and liberty which they feel threatened at the hands of respondents 3 to 5.
1. This petition was considered in the presence of the learned counsels of both the sides on 10th February, 2025, and a direction was issued to respondents 1 to 2 to provide protection to the petitioners as and when they approach the police authorities for the purpose. This order is in operation ever since. It seems that the aforesaid order has worked to the advantage of the petitioners and, therefore, they have even not taken the requisite steps for service of respondents 3 to 5.
2. Be that as it may, having regard to the nature of the controversy involved, this petition is disposed of by providing that in case the petitioners face a real threat to their life and liberty from respondents 3 to 5, they shall be free to approach the concerned police station for seeking protection. Needless to say that the police authorities, if approached by the petitioners in this regard, shall take remedial measures as are permissible in law so as to ensure the protection of their life and liberty.
2. Disposed of.
