JUSTICE A. GUNESHWAR SHARMA O R D E R 16-09-2025 [1] None appears for the petitioners. [2] Present Mr. Sarvan Kumar, learned counsel for respondent No. 1 through video conferencing ; Mr. Y. Nirmolchand, learned senior counsel for respondent No. 2; and Ms. Malemleima H., learned counsel for respondent No. 3. [3] By the present petition, the petitioners, who are unsuccessful candidates, challenged the appointment of respondent No. 3 as Director, Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA), Imphal on contractual basis for a period of one year w.e.f. 23-07-2024 on various grounds. However, during the pendency of the present writ petition, as the impugned order dated 25-07-2024 appointing respondent No. 3 as Director of JNMDA for a period of one year expired, the office of the Sangeet Natak Akademi issued another office order dated 24-07-2025 appointing WP(C) No. 536 of 2024 & MC(WP(C)) No. 453 of 2024 respondent No. 3 as Director (JNMDA), Imphal for a further period of one year w.e.f. 25-07-2025 to 24-07-2026. The subsequent order dated 24-07- 2025 is taken on record. [4] Mr. Y. Nirmolchand, learned senior counsel for respondent No. 2, submits that with the efflux of time, the cause of the writ petition does not survive as the impugned order dated 25-07-2024 is effective for a period from 23-07-2024 to 22-07-2025 and a fresh order dated 24-07-2025 appointing respondent No. 3 as Director of JNMDA, Imphal for another period of one year with effect from 25-07-2025 to 24-07-2026 has already been issued. [5] In view of the subsequent order, this Court is of the view that the cause of the writ petition does not survive as the impugned order dated 25-07-2024 has become redundant by the efflux of time. Without expressing any opinion on the merit of the case, the writ petition is disposed of. [6] The petitioners, if any, are at liberty to approach an appropriate forum for proceeding the validity of subsequent order dated 24-07-2025. [7] MC(WP(C)) No. 453 of 2024 is also closed.
