Side) O R D E R The petitioners have filed this petition that the respondent police is harassing them under the guise of an enquiry. 2.The learned counsel for the petitioners submits that the first petitioner’s son died in the year 2021 by committing suicide. Her daughter-in-law has lodged a complaint, based on which, the respondent police is harassing these petitioners. 3.Mr.P.Kottaichamy, learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side), who takes notice for the respondents 1 & 2 submits that one Sugapriya, the daughter in law of the first petitioner has lodged a complaint before the respondent police that these petitioners have retained 150 sovereigns of jewels belonging to her and they have not 2/5 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis
Crl.O.P.(MD)No.11559 of 2025 returned the jewels even after the demise of her husband. This complaint of Sugapriya has been treated as a petition enquiry in CSR No.169 of 2025 dated 22.06.2025. Since the complaint has been lodged only on 22.06.2025, they are conducting the petition enquiry and they require some more time to find out the truth. 4.This Court considered the rival submissions made. 5.It appears that on the complaint lodged by the daughter in law of the first petitioner that the petitioners have not returned 150 sovereigns of gold jewels, the respondent police are conducting the enquiry and the same is still pending. The petitioners shall appear before the respondent police and co-operate for the enquiry. The respondent police shall conclude the enquiry and take a decision either to register a case or not, within a period of three weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. During this enquiry, the respondent police shall not harass the petitioners.
