Mr. H. Belwal, learned counsel for the petitioner. 2. Mr. Rajeev Singh Bisht, learned Additional C.S.C. for the State of Uttarakhand. 3. Mr. Rajesh Sharma, learned counsel for respondent no. 4. 4. Petitioner was initially appointed on Group ‘D’ post of Cleaner in Public Works Department and he was subsequently promoted as Driver in the year 2005. Petitioner retired from service in the month of August, 2020. 5. In this writ petition, petitioner has sought the following reliefs:- (i) Issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of mandamus commanding the respondents to release the balance amount of G.P.F. in favour of the petitioner, which has been calculated by respondent no. 3, addressed to the Accountant General (Lekha & Hakdari), Dehradun vide its letter dated 04.05.2022 forthwith (Annexure No. 4 to this writ petition). (ii) Issue a writ order or direction in the nature of mandamus commanding the respondents to release the amount of the interest on delayed payment @ 10% per annum in favour of the petitioner. 6. Mr. Rajesh Sharma, learned counsel appearing for respondent no. 4 submits that GPF of Group ‘D’ employees is looked after by Treasury Department of State Government. However, GPF of 2025:UHC:9480 employees, serving in ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ category, is looked after by Accountant General; upon petitioner’s promotion from Group ‘D’ to Group ‘C’ in 2005, GPF amount was transferred by Government Treasury to the Accountant General; 90 percent of the amount of GPF was released to petitioner immediately after his retirement and remaining 10 percent GPF amount was released to him after filing of the writ petition and petitioner’s claim is regarding interest on the delayed payment of the remaining 10 percent of GPF amount. 7. Mr. Rajeev Singh Bisht, learned State Counsel, on instructions, submits that respondent no. 3 has ordered for immediate release of petitioner’s remaining amount of interest, which shall be paid to him within four weeks. 8. The writ petition is, accordingly, disposed of in terms of the statement made by learned State Counsel on record. However, if petitioner has any other grievance, then it shall be open to him to make representation for the same to Executive Engineer concerned. If he makes such representation within six weeks from today, Executive Engineer shall look into the matter and take decision thereupon, as per law, within six months thereafter.
