Also heard Mr. K K Parasar, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the State of Assam. 2. This application has been filed under Section 483 of the BNSS, 2023 whereby the petitioner, namely, Abdulla Shamim has prayed for releasing him on bail, after he was Page No.# 2/2 arrested in connection with Hojai P.S. Case No. 183/2025. 3. On the day of Idd i.e. on 7th June, 2025, 3 cows were slaughtered. The informant lodged the FIR before police alleging that the said act had hurt the sentiments of other people of the locality. The informant has also referred to the provisions of the Assam Cattle Preservation Act, 2021. 4. Mr. Parasar has objected to this bail application. 5. Mr. Roy Choudhury has submitted that though the name of the petitioner has been shown in the FIR, he was actually not present at the place of occurrence. According to Mr. Roy Choudhury, the cows were slaughtered because of religious rituals. 6. Mr. Roy Choudhury has further submitted that the petitioner has been in custody for the last 20 days for the allegation brought against him in the FIR. 7. This Court is of the opinion that the petitioner no longer deserves to be detained in custody. 8. The bail application of the petitioner is allowed. 9. It is hereby directed that the petitioner Abdulla Shamim, who was arrested in connection with Hojai P.S. Case No. 183/2025, shall be released on bail of ₹20,000/- with surety of like amount to the satisfaction of learned Chief Judicial Magistrate, Hojai Sankardev Nagar, Assam.
