As per divorce decree, custody of her daughter would remain with her. Petitioner applied for caste certificate for her daughter. Since caste certificate has not been issued so far, she has approached this Court. 3. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that petitioner lost contact with her husband, therefore revenue authorities are not justified in asking for caste certificate and other documents of her husband. 4. Learned State Counsel, however, submits that since caste of a child is determined by the caste status of his/her father, therefore revenue authority cannot be blamed for enquiring about caste status of the father of the child. 5. Be that as it may, since application for caste certificate made by petitioner is pending before the concerned authority, therefore writ petition is disposed of with direction to 2025:UHC:10479 Tehsildar, Ramnagar, District Nainital to take decision on application dated 08.10.2025 submitted by petitioner, as per law within six weeks from date of presentation of certified copy of this order.
