Notice on behalf of respondent nos.1 to 4 has been accepted by the office of the Chief Standing Counsel. The sole grievance of the petitioner is that he has moved an application seeking arm licence dated dated 25.7.2024 and till date the same has yet not been decided. Considering the limited scope of the relief claimed, this court is of the opinion that no gainful purpose would be served in keeping the petition pending rather ends of justice can be met by directing the respondent no.2 to consider and decide the pending application of the petitioner for grant of arms licence (in case if not decided earlier) preferably within a period of six weeks from the date a certified copy of this order is placed before the authority concerned. It is made clear that the court has not examined the case of either of the parties on merits and the authority shall take decision in accordance with law.
