Heard Mr. R Sekhar, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioners. Also heard Ms. P Upadhaya, the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the DRI.
2. This is an application under Section 483 of the BNSS, 2023 in respect of DRI Case No. 01/CL/IMP/PS & CIG/DRI/GZU/2025-26.

3. The petitioner is the driver of the vehicle, which was carrying 15,465 kilograms of poppy seeds and 8,80,000 sticks of cigarettes of foreign origin.
4. Mr. Sekhar has submitted that poppy seeds are used as spices. According to Mr. Sekhar, it is a 60 days offence and the petitioner has been in custody for the last 58 days.
5. Ms. Upadhaya has submitted that within next 7 days the Final Complaint may be filed by the DRI.
6. After considering the submissions made by the learned counsel of both sides, this Court is of the opinion that in this case, the period of detention undergone by the petitioner in custody deserves to be taken as a ground for releasing him on bail.
7. Therefore, the bail application of the petitioner is allowed.
8. It is hereby directed that the petitioner Ramakant Singh, who was arrested in connection with DRI Case No. 01/CL/IMP/PS & CIG/DRI/GZU/2025-26, shall be released on bail of ₹25,000/- with a surety of like amount to the satisfaction of learned Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kamrup (Metro), Guwahati.
