Though some protection has been granted under the orders of the trial Court where the criminal case is pending, in which the petitioner claims to be a witness, he seeks further protection. 3. The petitioner can move an application before the Committee headed by the District Judge, Lucknow for being provided security under the Witness Protection Scheme of 2018 and judgment of the Apex Court in the case of Mahendra Chawla vs. Union of India reported in (2019) 14 SCC 615, whereupon the said application shall be considered by the Committee and a decision shall be taken at the earliest, say within six weeks. 4.
