The present petition has been filed by the petitioner challenging an award dated 07.06.2024 whereby the amount of claim was allowed along with penalty @Rs.1000/- per week. 2. Both the parties have placed a judgment of this court passed on 17.07.2023 in Writ C No.5882 of 2023 wherein it was held that the imposition of penalty is wrong. 3. In view thereof, the present petition is disposed off with direction that the amount of Rs.5,00,000/- (five lacs) awarded shall be paid along with the interest @8% per annum with effect from the date of filing of the claim till the actual payment. The award is modified to that extent. It is clarified that no penalty as granted shall be paid. The amount shall be distributed in terms of the directions contained in the award dated 07.06.2024. 4. The amount along with the interest shall be deposited before the Permanent Lok Adalat within a period of six weeks from today. 5. The writ petition stands disposed off.
