HIGH COURT OF JAMMU & KASHMIR AND LADAKH AT JAMMU CJ Court Case: CPSW No. 398/2013 Uttam Singh …Petitioner(s)/Appellant(s) Through: None. V/s Shagufta Parveen and ors. …. Respondent(s) Through: Ms. Saliqa Sheikh, Assisting counsel to Mr. Raman Sharma, Sr. Advocate (AAG). CORAM: HON’BLE THE CHIEF JUSTICE ORDER 19.12.2025 (ORAL) 01. Petitioner along with co-petitioner- Dewan Singh, had filed writ petition (SWP No. 121-A/1994) seeking selection and appointment to the post of Teacher. 02. The said petition was disposed of by the Writ Court on July 25, 2000 directing the respondent-Authorities to prepare a comparative merit and indicate the marks of the last selected candidate and the petitioners. And, if the petitioner had higher merit than the last selected candidate, appropriate steps be taken for their appointment. Further, the benefit of reservation shall also be taken into account against the Scheduled Caste Category and the necessary exercise in this regard be carried out within three months. 03. The limited grievance that the petitioner had was that although his co- petitioner was subsequently offered the letter of appointment as Teacher, but the Authorities failed to consider the claim of the petitioner and implementation of the decision of the Court referred to above. Sr. No. 6 -2- 04. The records show that this Court had issued notice to the respondents in the present Contempt petition on October 22, 2013 and in the meanwhile, they were required to comply with the order dated July 25, 2000 and report compliance. 05. Despite the matter having been called twice, none is present on behalf of the petitioner to pursue the matter. 06. It appears that the matter, with efflux of time, is rendered infructuous. And, is, accordingly, disposed of. However, in the event any dispute/cause of action still survives, the petitioner shall be at liberty to move an application for restoration of the petition and appropriate orders.
