This is a petition for initiating contempt proceedings against the respondents for willful disobedience and non- compliance of the judgment dated 15th February, 2022, passed by this Court in OWP No. 2084/2018 titled <Villagers of Kanli Bagh Baramulla Vs. Union Territory of J&K and Ors= whereby the Division Bench of this Court while allowing the petition of the petitioners has directed the respondents to pass a final award and disburse the compensation accordingly to the interested persons. The Division Bench has also imposed costs of Rs. 10.00 lacs to be paid by the respondents to the petitioners for unnecessarily dragging them into litigation for decades. In compliance with the judgment aforesaid, the Collector Land Acquisition, concerned has passed a final award on 1st September, 2022 and the amount determined along with interest has been disbursed to the claimants. It is also reported that the costs of Rs. 10.00 lacs as imposed by the Division Bench have been deposited in this Court. 3. Viewed thus, we are satisfied that the judgment passed by this court has been complied with in its letter and spirit and, therefore, there is no point in continuing with these proceedings. Accordingly, the proceedings in this contempt petition are, therefore, closed. The Registry is directed to release the costs of Rs. 10.00 lacs deposited by the respondents in favour of the Collector Land Acquisition, Baramulla who shall disburse the same proportionately among the Villagers of Kanli Bagh, Baramulla, whose land as per the final award has been acquired and compensation paid. The claimants who have not yet been paid the compensation shall be disbursed the same without any further delay.
