This Criminal Writ Petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India has been filed by the Petitioners – Mohit Prahalad Joshi and Deepa Joshi. 10. As per office report, the Petition was filed on 02.12.2023 and listed on 21.12.2023. The coordinate Bench recorded “It is the case of alleged gross misuse of power, atrocities, torture by police in police custody, manipulation of records, lodging of false FIR, dereliction of duties, humiliations and many other related issues. The petitioners seek investigation into the matter CBI and action against the erring officers.” It was further noted: “Fortunately, the petitioners could get the CCTV footages of the police station, which speak loudly the miserable conditions, in which the police force had worked at Mahila Thana, NTD, Almora, in the presence of Senior Police Officers of District Almora. Some of the transcripts have been enclosed by the petitioners.” and it was further noted “It is the allegations that not only the petitioners were abused, humiliated, but they were beaten up in the police custody.
