Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and learned Standing Counsel for respondent nos.1 to 5. By this petition, the petitioner has prayed for the following relief:- "To issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of Mandamus commanding the opposite parties to consider and promote the petitioner on the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police from the date, his junior and batchmates of batch 1996 and even those Inspectors of Batch 1998 admittedly Junior to the Petitioner, have been promoted on the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police in the Uttar Pradesh Police Department." After arguing for sometime, learned counsel for the petitioner confines his prayer to the extent that the representation of the petitioner may be directed to be decided by respondent no.2. Learned Standing Counsel has no objection to this innocuous prayer. Perused the record. Considering the above, the petition is disposed of with liberty to the petitioner to move a fresh representation to respondent no.2 i.e. Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board through It's Chairman within two weeks' from today. If the petitioner submits a fresh representation, the respondent no.2 shall decide the same within four weeks' thereafter, by passing a speaking and reasoned order.
