This writ petition was filed by the petitioner in the year 2023, seeking the following reliefs:- “(i) a suitable writ, order or direction in the nature of certiorari quashing the decision dated 28.10.2023 passed by the Grievance Redressal Committee of Doon University, Student Council, Election 2023 whereby the candidature of the petitioner for the post of Student Council Election under Graduate Category has been rejected on the ground of exceeding the age limit of 22 years as applicable for contesting school society election under UG Category and also the order dated 28.10.2023 passed by Dean Student Welfare Doon University Dehradun rejecting the representation of the petitioner (Contained as Annexure No.3 and 4 to this writ petition). (ii). a writ order or direction in the nature of mandamus commanding the respondents to permit the petitioner to contest the election for the post of Student Council Election under Graduate Category of (SoSS) of Doon University which is going to be held on 31.10.2023 treating him to be eligible and within the age limit of 22 years on the date of academic session started on 01.08.2023.” 5. Mr. Shubhang Dobhal, learned counsel appearing for the Doon University points out that petitioner was not permitted to participate in the Students’ Council Election because he became overage therefor. No interim order was passed in favour of the petitioner. Mr. Dobhal further points out that the result of the Students’ Council Election was declared on 31.10.2023, which has not been challenged in the writ petition. 6. This Court finds substance in the submission made by learned counsel appearing for the Doon University that the writ petition has become infructuous. 7. The Students’ Council is elected for a specified term. Upon expiry of that term, no relief can be granted. 8. Accordingly, the writ petition is dismissed as infructuous.
