2.
By filing this writ petition, the petitioner prays for appointment on compassionate ground, in place of his grandfather.
3.
It is the case of this petitioner that his grandfather – Dhananjay Tanti, who was a Chowkidar, died in harness. Since the grandfather of the petitioner died in harness, the petitioner being his grandson, is entitled to be appointed on compassionate ground, thus, he claims such appointment.
4.
After going through the entire writ petition, and the annexures of the petition, I find that the grandfather of this petitioner died sometime in the year 1994.
5.
After 31 years of the death of an employee, the petitioner who happens to be the grandson, is approaching this Court for grant

of compassionate appointment. The delay of 31 years has definitely defeated the claim of compassionate appointment. The family of the deceased has definitely tied over the immediate financial crisis.
Further, the petitioner being a grandson, cannot be said to be dependent of the grandfather when his father is alive. Once the father is alive, the grandson does not derive any right to get compassionate appointment. Thus, I find no merit in this writ petition. The respondents have rightly rejected the claim of the petitioner vide Memo dated 08.02.2024.
6.
Accordingly, this writ petition stands dismissed.
