The petitioner has filed the instant petition for quashing the order dated 13.10.2014 issued by the Assistant Commissioner (Revenue), Kathua, whereby the name of the private respondent i.e. respondent No. 6 has been recommended for the post of Lambardar for village Chak Gopala and the application of the petitioner for the post of Lambardar has been rejected. 2. The respondents have not chosen to file response. 3. When the petitioner filed the instant petition, he was already 66 years of age and as per the mandate of J&K Lambardari Rules, a person beyond the age of 60 years cannot be appointed as Lambardar and even an elected Lambardar cannot continue beyond the age of 60 years. 4. In view of the above, the petitioner, in no manner can be appointed as Lambardar. Be that as it may, the official respondents are under obligation to conduct elections for the post of Lambardar for village Chak Gopala. Serial No. 13 2 OWP No. 1479/2016 5. Accordingly, the instant petition is disposed of by directing the official respondents to conduct elections for the post of Lambardar for village Chak Gopala within a period of three months from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order. 6.
