Juglal Kabir …for the Petitioner Mr. Supriyo Chattopadhyay …for WBSEDCL By filing the present writ petition, the petitioner has sought the relocation of a High Tension Overhead Line passing through the premises of a college, namely, Derozio Primary Teachers' Training Institute, located at Karimpur, Nadia. Pursuant to the petitioner’s request, the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) considered the matter and raised a quotation exceeding Rs. 35 lakhs for the shifting of the overhead electricity line. During the course of the hearing, however, it emerged that the petitioner’s prayer is limited to the shifting the electric poles situated in front of the gate of the college premises. Learned advocate appearing for WBSEDCL submits that this specific prayer was never placed before WBSEDCL. The earlier estimate was prepared for the 2 shifting of the entire High Tension Overhead Line passing through the college premises. In view of the above, this writ petition is disposed of with liberty to the petitioner to submit a fresh application specifically requesting the relocation of the electricity poles located in front of the entrance to the said college premises. If such an application is made, the same shall be considered by WBSEDCL in accordance with law, within a period of three weeks from the date of submission of the application. It is clarified that, since the earlier quotation was not related to the relocation of the electricity poles in front of the college gate, a fresh and proper estimate shall be prepared by WBSEDCL based on the petitioner’s forthcoming application. Accordingly, WPA 4359 of 2025 is disposed of. Urgent certified website copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
