JUSTICE VINOD CHATTERJI KOUL-JUDGE ORDER 30.06.2025 This bail application is taken up for consideration today. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is languishing in jail since 2018 and as he has been denied the right to speedy trial, therefore, he is entitled to be released on bail. He has earlier approached the Trial court for bail which was refused. He also submits that only few witnesses have been examined and having regard to the list of the witnesses, it will take much time. He states that, in alternative, the Trial court may be asked to decide the case expeditiously within a period of three months. Having regard to the submissions made, to the fact that the petitioner is involved in the offence punishable for life imprisonment, to the fact that the case is pending before the Trial court for recording evidence of the prosecution witnesses and to the fact the petitioner is entitled to speedy trial, therefore, the instant application is disposed of by providing that the Trial court shall speed up the Trial of the case and without granting unnecessary adjournment(s) to either of the parties, shall make every endeavor to conclude the trial expeditiously.
