According to the petitioner, his father, who was serving as Sweeper-cum- Chaukidar in Health Department passed away on 31.05.2010 while in service; petitioner applied for compassionate appointment on 10.02.2011, however, no decision has been taken on his application so far. Thus, feeling aggrieved, petitioner has approached this Court seeking a mandamus to the authorities to appoint the petitioner on compassionate ground. 4. Learned State Counsel submits that no blanket order can be passed for appointing someone on compassionate grounds. He, however, submits that since petitioner has alleged that decision has not been taken on his application so far, therefore, the petitioner can be permitted to make fresh application for compassionate appointment. 5. Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of by permitting the petitioner to make fresh application to the competent authority within two weeks from today. If he makes such application seeking compassionate appointment, the competent authority shall examine petitioner’s claim and pass appropriate order, as per law, within six weeks thereafter.
