Mr. Navneet Kaushik, Advocate, for the petitioner. Mr. Dharmendra Barthwal, Advocate, for the respondents. (2) Petitioner runs an electric furnace for the manufacture of ingots. The power connection of the petitioner has been disconnected for non-deposit of electricity dues for consecutive two months. Thus feeling aggrieved, petitioner has approached this Court. (3) Mr. Dharmendra Barthwal, learned Counsel appearing for the UPCL, points out that electricity dues pending against the petitioner are around ₹92 lakhs, therefore it is not possible to continue power supply to the petitioner any further. (4) Mr. Navneet Kaushik, learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner, submits that petitioner has furnished security deposit of ₹60 lakhs, which may be adjusted against the electricity dues and the remaining dues of about ₹32 lakhs would be cleared by the petitioner within next 30 days. In the alternative, petitioner is ready to deposit a sum of ₹30 lakhs and remaining ₹62 lakhs will be paid by the petitioner with the regular bills in three instalments. (5) The relief claimed by the petitioner cannot be granted in a writ petition. Accordingly, writ petition is disposed of with liberty to petitioner to make proposal to the competent authority 2025:UHC:8209 in UPCL. If petitioner submits his proposal within ten days along with deposit of ₹20 lakhs, the competent authority shall consider his proposal and take decision, as per law, within ten days thereafter.
