(2) Petitioner was engaged on contract, through UPNL, as Junior Engineer against available vacancy in MDDA. Grievance raised by the petitioner is that he has been disengaged. (3) Mr. Rahul Consul, learned Counsel appearing for the MDDA, submits that since 34 candidates selected by the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission have already joined duties against the available vacancies for the post of Junior Engineer, no vacancy remains against which the petitioner’s engagement can be continued. (4) Learned Counsel for the petitioner, however, disputes this submission and submits that vacancies are still available, and a tender notice has also been issued for the supply of manpower. (5) If what has been stated by learned Counsel for the petitioner is true, then petitioner shall be at liberty to make representation for extension of his engagement. If he makes such representation within ten days from today, 2025:UHC:8210 then decision thereupon shall be taken by the competent authority in MDDA within three weeks thereafter.
