Petitioner’s candidature for the post of Assistant Statistical Officer was rejected by Uttarakhand Public Service Commission at the stage of documents verification, on the ground that qualification possessed by petitioner, is not as per norms. 5. Admittedly, petitioner possesses master’s degree in Agriculture Statistics; while the required qualification was master’s degree in Statistics. 6. Today, Mr. Ashish Joshi, learned counsel appearing for the Selecting Body (Public Service Commission) has produced in Court written instructions received by him from the Secretary of the Commission. Based on the written instructions, Mr. Joshi submits that Mr. Tanuj Kumar Pandey (petitioner herein) has scored less marks than the last candidate, selected in unreserved category, therefore, his name do not figure in the list of successful candidates. 7. The written instructions, produced by Mr. Ashish Joshi, reveals that petitioner scored 152.8101 marks in the selection; while the last selected candidate, for the post of Assistant Statistical Officer in unreserved category, scored 165.9716 marks. 8. Since it was a combined selection for more than one post, therefore, for other posts for which petitioner has applied, cut off marks are still higher. 9. Since petitioner could not qualify in the selection process, therefore, the relief as claimed cannot be granted. 10. The writ petition is, accordingly, dismissed. However, petitioner shall be at liberty to approach the appropriate forum on the question of equivalence of qualification possessed by him with that required in the advertisement.
