The present writ petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India with the following reliefs:- “(i) Issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of mandamus commanding the respondents nos. 4/5 to install CCTV cameras in the counting room and to conduct the entire counting process of upcoming election of Chairperson Nagar Palika Parishad, Mussoorie under CCTV surveillance. ii. Issue any other suitable writ order or direction which this Hon'ble Court may deem 2025:UHC:461 2 fit, just and proper under the facts and circumstances of the case.” 2. Heard Mr. Siddhartha Sah, learned counsel for the petitioner, Mr. Devendra Pant, learned Standing Counsel with Mr. Hargovind Pant, learned Brief Holder for the respondent nos.1 and 2, Mr. Sanjay Bhatt, learned counsel for the respondent nos.3, 4 and 5 and Mr. Bhuwan Bhatt, learned counsel for the respondent no.6. 3. Learned counsel for the respondent nos.1 to 5 sought 24 hours time to get instructions on 09.01.2025. 4. Today, Mr. Sanjay Bhatt, Advocate, has informed on instruction that the Uttarakhand State Election Commission will install Closed Circuit Television Cameras (CCTVs) at conspicuous spots of the counting rooms and ensure that the entire counting process is conducted under CCTVs. 5.
