ORDER 02.07.2026 1. By this petition, petitioner herein has challenged the order dated 26.12.2024, passed by the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, whereby, the detenue namely Abdul Qayoom Bhat S/O Late Ab. Satar Bhat R/O Qazipora Chadoora District Budgam, has been detained under the provisions of Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1988. It is stated by learned counsel for the respondents that the said order was executed on 27.12.2024 and the instant petition has rendered infructuous. 2. Perusal of the reply reveals that the period of detention as prescribed in the order of detention was for a period of one year, which has expired on 26.12.2025. 3. In view of the above, the order of detention has outlived its life and the detenue, in consequence thereof, is entitled to be released from the custody. 4. Accordingly, while holding the petition as having become infructuous, it is ordered that the detenue namely Abdul Qayoom Bhat S/O Late Ab. Satar Bhat R/O Qazipora Chadoora District Budgam, be released from detention forthwith, if not required in any other case. 5. Disposed of.
