The Criminal Petition, under Section 482 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, is filed on behalf of the petitioner/accused No.8, to grant anticipatory bail in connection with Crime No.202 of 2024 of Ramabhadrapuram Police Station, Vizianagaram District. 2. A case has been registered against the petitioner/accused No.8 and others for the offences punishable under Sections 8(c) read with 20(b)(ii)(C) of NDPS Act. 2 3. Case of the prosecution is that, on 12.12.2024 at about 08.30 hours, SI of Police received credible information about illegal possession and transportation of Ganja at Kottakki Village Junction. Immediately, SI of Police secured mediators and rushed to the spot and conducted vehicle check at Kottakki Village Junction. At that time, one lorry bearing registration No.MP09 HH 7961, halted 50 meters away and from which, two persons got down and attempted to escape from Police. Immediately, SI of Police along with his staff apprehended them. On questioning them, they revealed that they are in possession of Ganja. Meanwhile, one Mahindra Bolero vehicle bearing registration No.AP39OD9663 and Bolero Van bearing registration No.AP39TS7678, coming towards vehicle check point. On spotting Police, drivers of the said vehicles tried to flee. However, Police were managed to apprehend one of the drivers while the other escaped. On questioning him, he revealed that he is in possession of Ganja in the Bolero van. Police seized 810 Kgs of Ganja in the presence of mediators. 4. Learned Additional Public Prosecutor submits that around 810 Kgs of Ganja has been seized in the present case and that, the investigation is still in progress. 5. A perusal of the material on record goes to show that police have seized huge quantity of Ganja i.e., about 810 Kgs, from the possession of the accused persons. The volume of seized 3 substance is significantly huge and falls under the category of commercial quantity. 6. In view of the aforesaid reasons, this court is not inclined to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner/accused No.8. 7. Accordingly, the Criminal Petition is dismissed.
