1. V ROOPESH KUMAR REDDY Counsel for the Respondent(S):
1. BATHULA RAJ KIRAN (SC FOR LIC ) The Court made the following ORDER:
Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned counsel for the respondents.
2. The petitioner is challenging the inaction of the respondents in not providing a relaxation in the percentage of marks for candidates from the SC/ST community for the post of Assistant Administrative Officer (Legal). The respondents, through a notification dated 20.11.2010, called for applications to fill up vacancies in various cadres. The petitioner intended to apply for the post of Assistant Administrative Officer (Legal), where the minimum marks
2
required in the examination were prescribed as 50%. However, the petitioner secured only 49% in aggregate.
3. The learned counsel for the respondents appeared virtually and submitted that the stipulated minimum percentage of marks for the Assistant Administrative Officer (Legal) post was 50%. For SC and ST candidates, the required percentage was 49%, but this relaxation was not extended to the Assistant Administrative Officer (Legal) post. He further submits that recruitment pursuant to the notification is now complete, and the candidates who were selected are presently discharging their duties. It is also submitted that the role of Assistant Administrative Officer (Legal) requires specific skills for the said post. As such, the relaxation in the minimum cut-off marks was not extended for this particular cadre.
4. Recording the submissions made by the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned counsel for the respondents, the cause in the present writ petition does not survive any further, as recruitment pursuant to the notification has been completed. Accordingly, the writ petition is dismissed. There shall be no order as to costs. As a sequel, miscellaneous petitions pending, if any, shall stand closed.
