1. The present petition filed by the petitioner seeks to direct the respondents to set aside cancellation of his passport (no. F7089289) and consequent denial of the request of the petitioner for reissuance of the passport.

It is submitted by learned counsel for the respondents that the petitioner’s request for reissuance of the passport was denied on the premise that there was a discrepancy in the date of birth of the petitioner in the application for reissuance submitted by him inasmuch as in the previous / expired passport of the petitioner, the date of birth of the petitioner was reflected to be 04.12.1958 whereas in the application for reissuance of passport, it is the case of the petitioner that the date of birth is 04.12.1955.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the date of birth mentioned in the earlier passport was on account of an inadvertent lapse / error. It is also submitted that for the purpose of reissuance of passport with This is a digitally signed order. the correct date of birth, the petitioner supplied all the requisite documents to the petitioner i.e. Aadhar Card, Pension Certificate, Higher Secondary School Certificate.

After some hearing, with the consent of learned counsel for the respondents, it is directed that the petitioner shall submit a fresh application for issuance / reissuance of the passport in his favour. The same shall be duly supported by documents establishing the date of birth of the petitioner. The petitioner shall also submit an explanation by way of an affidavit explaining the errors/discrepancies in the date of birth in the earlier passport issued in his favour.
5. Upon such an application being submitted, the same shall be duly considered and processed by the respondents, and if no discrepancy is found therein, a fresh passport shall be reissued to the petitioner.
6. Let the aforesaid exercise be done expeditiously.
7. With the aforesaid directions, the present petition is disposed of.
