ORDER The writ petition is filed praying for a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to consider the applications filed by the petitioners for the post of PG Assistant in commerce and botany respectively under the quota set apart for minority medium (Telugu) candidates against the GT and BC turns respectively pursuant to advertisement No. 01/2022 dated 09.09.2021 and issue a provisional selection list for the post of PG Assistant Commerce and Botany respectively in minority medium Telugu including the names of the petitioners in the said provisional selection list for the post of PG Assistants under the minority medium category. https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis

2. Though the Writ Petition has been filed on behalf of two petitioners viz. Y.Mahesh and A.M. Lokesh, it is brought to the notice of this Court that the first petitioner viz. Y.Mahesh has already been appointed as P.G.Assistant in Commerce and therefore, may not have any further grievance. 3. Insofar as second petitioner viz. Mr.A.M.Lokesh, it was submitted that he had applied for the post of P.G.Assistant in Botany. In the format to give personal details along with application for the post of P.G.Assistant, no column was provided to fill up the category of minority medium. Resultantly, the second petitioner was unable to fill in the application form showing that he was seeking an appointment under the minority medium (Telugu quota) for the post of P.G. Assistant in Botany. During certificate verification, the second petitioner provided proof for consideration under the Telugu minority medium. In support of this claim, petitioner also produced 10th and 12th School Certificates. Since petitioner requests was not considered, the present Writ Petition came to be filed. https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis

Learned Senior Counsel would submit that there are in fact vacancies which have been notified and would place on record the communication dated 27.06.2025, including vacancy to the post of P.G.Assistant Botany. 5. Learned Additional Advocate General would submit that when the notification was issued, the User Department indicated a need to fill up the post of P.G.Assistant in Botany, however, the said request was later on withdrawn by the User Department. Subsequent, thereto the User Department again indicated they need to fill up the post of P.G.Assistant in Botany. 6.
In view of the subsequent development, learned Additional Advocate General would submit that respondents would consider petitioner’s request and appropriate orders would be passed on the above request of the petitioner, in accordance with law within a time period to be stipulated by this Court. Agreed to by the learned counsel for petitioner. 7. In that view of the matter, the writ petition stands disposed of with a direction to Respondents to consider petitioner's request, on its own merits and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law, after affording reasonable https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis
