DATE : 18.08.2026 This petition is pending for last two years and on the first day of the same, this Court has expressed doubt about the maintainability since the Government Policy in relation to rehabilitation is under challenge. 2. In the last four years, many of the villages have already been rehabilitated and some of the villagers have already filed some petitions raising grievance in respect of compensation and for other issues. 3. In the circumstances, considering the law laid down in the case of M.C. Mehta and anr. Vs. Union of India and Ors., reported in 1987 (1) SCC 395, we are of the opinion that this petition is not maintainable. Prity 2 / 2 940.pil34.2022.doc However, liberty is granted to file afresh writ petition, if the petitioner wants to raise any grievance in respect of any irregularity, illegality or not granting the benefits under the scheme of rehabilitation. 4.
