By way of the present petition filed under Section 528 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (hereinafter referred to as ‘BNSS’) read with Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, the petitioner seeks quashing of FIR No. 0179/2025, registered at Police Station Karawal Nagar, Delhi, under Sections 498A/354A/406/509/34 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (hereinafter referred to as ‘IPC’), along with all consequential proceedings arising therefrom, on the basis of an amicable settlement arrived at between the parties. The petitioner and Respondent No. 2 are present before this Court and have been duly identified by the Investigating Officer concerned. 6. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the disputes between the parties have been amicably resolved. It is submitted that pursuant to the settlement arrived at between the parties, the petitioner has handed over a Demand Draft bearing No. 008316 for a sum of Rs.80,000/- (Rupees Eighty Thousand only) to Respondent No. 2 in full and final settlement of all her claims. Learned counsel further submits that nothing remains due and payable between the parties. 7. On a query made by this Court, Respondent No. 2, who has been duly identified by the Investigating Officer, states that she has entered into the settlement voluntarily, out of her own free will and without any force, coercion or undue influence. She further confirms receipt of the Demand Draft bearing No. 008316 for Rs.80,000/-, and states that she has no surviving claim against the petitioner. She has no objection if the present FIR and all proceedings emanating therefrom are quashed. 8. In view of the settlement arrived at between the parties and the statement made by Respondent No. 2 before this Court, no useful purpose would be served in continuing the criminal proceedings. Rather, continuation thereof would only result in unnecessary litigation between the parties. There is no legal impediment to quashing the FIR in the facts and circumstances of the present case. 9.
