After joining CRPF as a Constable on 27.06.1983, the Petitioner demitted Office upon acceptance of his request for VRS with effect from 31.08.2017. It is not disputed that he was entitled to promotion along with other officials on 17.08.2017 for the post of Inspector. However, since his record was not complete, no order for promotion was passed till 22.09.2017 and in the meantime, he demitted office. 2. Now, undisputedly, the Petitioner has already been granted This is a digitally signed order. On promotion, he will not be entitled to any financial benefit, however, the learned counsel for the Petitioner submits that the Respondents be directed to perform the ceremony of grant of rank of Inspector to the Petitioner. 3. Learned counsel representing the Respondents does not dispute that the Petitioner’s name was not included in the list of promoted officers due to unavailability of complete service record even though he was entitled for promotion on 17.08.2017, i.e., before he demitted office. 4. In such circumstances, as the Petitioner is only praying for grant of rank without any financial consequences, this Court considers it apposite to direct the Respondents to grant the rank of Inspector to the Petitioner since 17.08.2017 within eight weeks. 5.
