The instant petition has been filed by the petitioner under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a writ in the nature of Mandamus, directing the respondents to grant compensation to the tune of Rs.50 lacs to the petitioner on account of injuries received by him due to electrocution in an untoward incident while performing his official duty, due to the negligence of the Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd. (PSPCL) and its employees. 2. Learned counsel for the parties are ad idem that the instant petition is squarely covered by a judgment of this Court in CWP No.11626 MAMTA MALHOTRA 2026.07.23 11:04 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this order/judgment Chandigarh CWP-18042-2021 2 of 2023, Paramjeet Singh versus Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd. and another, decided on 15.12.2023 alongwith connected cases wherein a similar issue has been decided and following directions have been issued:- “Accordingly, in view of the above policy and with consent of the parties and without commenting anything on the merits of the case(s), the present petitions are disposed of with a direction to the petitioner(s) to approach the respondent- Authorities for seeking compensation in terms of the aforesaid policy, alongwith necessary documents prescribed thereunder, if any. In the event of the petitioners approaching the respondents-Authorities for seeking claim/compensation in terms of the aforesaid policy, the same shall be considered and decided expeditiously and preferably within the time frame stipulated in the policy. The due compensation, if any, shall also be released within the prescribed time period. Petitions stand disposed of accordingly. Photocopy of this order be placed on the files of other connected cases.” 3. Consequently, the present petition is disposed of in the same terms. Let the petitioner approach the respondents-Authorities for seeking claim/compensation in terms of the policy issued vide office order No.10, I.R.O.676 dated 08.12.2023, within a period of four weeks from today and the same shall be considered and decided expeditiously and preferably within the time frame stipulated in the Policy. The due compensation, if any, shall also be released within the prescribed time period.
