UNNI KRISHNAN NAIR ORDER 10/06/2026 Heard Mr. G N Sahewalla, learned counsel for the petitioner and Ms. S Baruah, learned Government Advocate, appearing for the respondent Nos. 1 to 5. 2. In the present writ petition, the petitioner has prayed for a direction upon the respondent authorities for his promotion to the post of Superintendent, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs with retrospective effect, i.e., with effect from the date his juniors were so promoted. 3. Ms. Baruah, learned Government Advocate, on instructions, has submitted that the petitioner was promoted to the post of Superintendent, vide an order dated 07.11.2020. 4. It is further projected that the petitioner was, thereafter, promoted to the Page No.# 3/3 post of Assistant Director, FPD&CA vide an order dated 27.12.2023. It is also projected that the petitioner had thereafter retired from his services on reaching the age of superannuation, w.e.f. 31.10.2024. 5. The petitioner being found to have been granted his promotion to the rank of Superintendent, w.e.f. 07.11.2020 and also further promotion to the rank of Assistant Director, vide Notification dated 27.12.2023, the petitioner not having come up before this Court, assailing the said orders of promotion, praying that the same must be given retrospective effect, this Court holds that the relief, as sought for, by the petitioner in the present writ petition, has already been granted to him. 6. In view of the above developments taking place in the matter, the present writ petition is held to have been rendered infructuous. 7. Accordingly, the present writ petition stands closed on being rendered infructuous. 8.
