LISA GILL, CJ (Oral): This Writ Petition has been filed in public interest, being aggrieved by inaction of respondent authorities in not implementing specific provisions of Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (for short, “Disabilities Act”), thereby claiming violation of the Disabilities Act. 2. Notice was issued in this Writ Petition (PIL) on 14.08.2018 and thereafter, a comprehensive counter-affidavit dated 05.01.2026 has been filed by Secretary to Government, Women and Child, Differently Abled and Senior Citizen Welfare Department. It is stated therein that necessary compliances of HCJ & NJSJ WP(PIL)_223_2018 the Act have been carried out and that provisions of the Disabilities Act are being implemented in letter and spirit. Various notifications and Government Orders issued have been mentioned in detail. It is inter alia stated that in terms of provisions of Section 101 of Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, the A.P. Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2023, have been notified on 20.04.2023. Special Sessions Courts for trial of cases under SCs & STs (PoA) Act, 1989, in terms of Section 84, have been notified. Special Public Prosecutors have been attached as well. District Level Committees on Disabilities have been notified and Committees constituted under chairmanship of District Collector in terms of Section 72 of the Disabilities Act. In terms of Section 66 of the Disabilities Act, it is stated a State Advisory Board on Disability has been constituted. Similarly, there is complete compliance of Sections 23(1), 20(4), 32, 38, 57 and 59 of the Disabilities Act. 4. Perusal of this affidavit reveals detailed information and steps taken by respondent State, including the provision of educational facilities and amounts sanctioned for the various schemes which have also been succinctly described. 5. At this stage, in our considered opinion, no purpose shall be served by continuation of present proceedings. Non appearance of learned counsel for petitioners does not justify further adjournment in the given factual matrix. HCJ & NJSJ WP(PIL)_223_2018 6. Proceedings in this writ petition (PIL) are accordingly closed at this stage, with liberty to petitioners to file appropriate application in case of any subsisting issues. No costs.
