Respondent(s) Through: Ms. Saliqa Sheikh, Assisting counsel to Mr. Raman Sharma, AAG Coram: HON’BLE THE CHIEF JUSTICE ORDER 30.04.2026 Vide this petition, the petitioners seek initiation of contempt proceedings against the respondents for willful/intentional defiance of the order dated March 29, 2017, rendered in SWP No.3175/2015. A bare reading of the order referred to above reveals that the petition preferred by the petitioners was disposed of by the Writ Court with a direction to the competent authority to consider the claim of the petitioners in the light of the admission contained in paragraph 6 of the reply as also in the wake of the law laid down by the Supreme Court in the case of State of Punjab and Ors. Versus Jagjit Singh and Ors. 2017 (1) SCC 148. Compliance report on behalf of the respondents has been filed which indicates that pursuant to the order dated March 29, 2017 (ibid), the answering respondents issued Government Order dated December 11, 2017, vide which it was clarified that Multipurpose Workers (MPVs) shall be treated to have always been at par with the Village Level Workers (VLWs) for grant of higher pay scale after eight years of services as prescribed under J&K Rural Development (Subordinate) Service Recruitment Rules, 2007. And, a copy of the letter issued in this regard is appended with compliance report as Annexure- 1. Sr.No. 80 2 CPSW No. 405/2017 in SWP No. 3175/2015 That being so, nothing substantive survives in the petition and the same is accordingly disposed of as having been rendered infructuous.
