Coram:
HON’BLE THE CHIEF JUSTICE
ORDER 30.04.2026
Vide this petition, the petitioner seeks initiation of the contempt proceedings against the respondents owing to willful defiance of the order and
judgment dated July 02, 2016 rendered by the Writ Court in SWP No. 1397/2008 (Ranjit Singh vs. Union of India & ors.).
A bare reading of the order referred to above reveals that the petition preferred by the petitioner was disposed of by the Writ Court with a direction to the respondents to settle and grant disability pension to the petitioner with effect from the date of discharge, with simple interest @ 12% per annum.
The petition is pending for nearly a decade. None is present either on behalf of the petitioner to clarify if anything actually survives in the matter. That being so, this Court is choiceless but to dismiss the petition for non-prosecution.
